Are you looking to customize t-shirts for your sports team, fan wear, fashion or to advertise your business? Gulfside Heat Transfers will take your logo or design and apply it to a screen printed release paper so that all you have to do is apply it to your t-shirt with a heat press. At Gulfside Heat Transfers, we produce custom heat transfers, which are sometimes called iron on transfers; though, these types of heat transfers cannot actually be applied with a home iron, we will refer to them as such for the sake of this article.

Iron on Transfers vs Heat Transfers
Iron on transfers are designs that are printed on a special type of paper that releases the design onto a fabric with heat. This paper is commonly known as transfer paper or release paper. It is used to transfer images, text, or a combination of both into fabrics. Usually this is done on t-shirts, but can be done on other fabrics such as cotton bags, pillow covers, and table cloths.

These heat transfers use a special ink called plastisol to transfer the image onto the fabric. This is a simple method of applying ink onto any fabric and is why so many people choose to do their custom shirts with iron on transfers .

The method of creating these transfers is done through screen printing. The difference is that with screen printing you are printing directly onto a garment and with transfers, you’re printing onto the paper which will later be applied to the garment, as needed. Therefore because there is very little difference in how the image is printed, there is no design quality lost with iron on transfers.
